Q - How soon can I withdraw money against a cheque paid into my account?
A - Y ou are able to withdraw against a cheque paid into your account after six working days have elapsed.

Q - When opening/adding to an account who should the cheque be payable to?
A - For security reasons, the cheque should be made payable to the Account Holder(s) (please write your account number on the reverse of the cheque if it is known).

Q - Do I need to send evidence of my identity when opening an account?
A - Not always - please refer to the Terms & Conditions for more information.

Q - Do you offer a Fixed Interest Rate account?
A - From time to time our savings portfolio will include a fixed rate account. Please refer to the Accounts & Rates for a list of current savings accounts.

Q - Can my interest be paid gross?
A - Yes. All you have to do is complete a HM Revenue & Customs form R85 if you are a UK resident or a form R105 if you are a non-UK resident.

Q - Can I transfer funds into my account at the Manchester using the banking system?

Q - Do you offer any non-personal accounts?
A - No, unfortunately we no longer offer these facilities.

Q - Does the Manchester have a Charitable Assignment Scheme, and if so where can I find out more about it?
A - Yes, we introduced a Charitable Assignment Scheme on 1st June 2000. For more information see the Charitable Assignment section.

Q - What if I change my mind about investing with the Manchester?
A - If for any reason you consider that the account does not fulfil your requirements, you may close the account without any loss of interest irrespective of the withdrawal conditions. You will need to inform the Society in writing within 14 days of opening the account, please note however this condition does not apply to fixed term accounts.

Q - Do you offer a BACs withdrawal facility?
A - Not at the present time.

Q - Can I open a savings account with the Manchester even if I live out of the Manchester area?
A - Yes, our savings accounts are available to UK residents.

Q - Am I able to find out my balance or make transactions over the phone?
A - We are able to tell you the balance of your account over the phone provided you can answer security questions to confirm your identity. We unfortunately do not have a telephone banking facility in place so all transactions must be arranged in our branch or by post.

Q - How is interest calculated?
A - Interest is accrued on a daily basis and is paid either monthly or annually as detailed in the Key Product Features of the account. Interest is paid either monthly on the last working day of the month or annually on the date specified in the Key Product Features.
