Non Executive Director Opportunities

The strategy and direction of the Society is overseen by a Board of Directors, where a majority of the Board comprises Non Executive Directors.

Our corporate governance arrangements require that the Board regularly considers the skills and experience of its membership and identifies any gaps that may need to be met. Regular refreshing of Board membership occurs through the appointment of new Non Executive Directors, with this activity undertaken by a Nominations Committee.

To register your initial interest as a potential candidate for a Non Executive Director appointment please write to our Nominations Committee (marked Strictly Private and Confidential) at Manchester Building Society, 125 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 4QD, providing brief details of your background and experience.

Ideally, candidates will be able to demonstrate that they have suitable skills and business experience that would support their ability to make an effective contribution to the governance of a regulated financial services business.

Our process includes more detailed consideration requiring completion of a formal Candidate Application Form. The Society follows a rigorous assessment process for candidates, which includes a personal interview by the Nominations Committee and completion of a robust vetting and referencing process to meet Fitness and Propriety requirements.

Please note that a Non Executive Director role is a Controlled Function under Financial Services Authority Rules, pursuant to the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. A successful candidate would need to become registered as an Approved Person with the Financial Services Authority.
