Manchester Building Society is proud to support local charities through our affinity accounts. By opening an affinity account you can help the charity raise much needed funds, and you get a competitive rate of interest on your savings.
Every year, Manchester Building Society will make a cash payment to the charity based on the average balances held in the affinity account. So, the more that supporters save in their affinity account, the bigger the payment the charity will receive.
We currently support the North West Air Ambulance with our affinity account. For more details about our affinity accounts, and to open an account click here.
The North West Air Ambulance is a charity which has been flying life saving missions throughout the North West region since 1999. Relying almost entirely on donations from the general public, it offers a vital service 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
This essential service avoids the problems of distance and congestion, meaning that patients involved in major trauma can receive medical attention quickly, before being transferred to a specialist hospital in record time. By receiving treatment at the scene by a highly qualified medical team using sophisticated equipment, and arriving at hospital within the “Golden Hour”, the patients’ chances of survival and speed of recovery are dramatically improved.
North West Air Ambulance covers 5,500 square miles and a residential population of almost 8 million people. On average, the North West Air Ambulance is called out 5 times a day, rising up to 10 in the summer. It costs in excess of £4.2m per year to maintain two helicopters, but with almost no central government or lottery funding, they rely on the generosity of supporters.
By opening a North West Air Ambulance Affinity Account with Manchester Building Society, you are helping the charity to continue to operate and save lives.
